Fast and Light basically has two categories: consumerism and simplicity. You can spend thousands of dollars on the lightest weight gear known to (wo)man or you can travel like John Muir, with a wool blanket and a tin cup. Come out with us to find the balance between those two worlds. Learn tricks of the trade like how to camp with a tarp instead of a tent and learn that if you cut off the handle of your toothbrush to save weight, you won't be able to reach your molars! This trip is done over a two day period in which you will sort through your gear with a fine tooth comb, go shopping with your guide, and go on a small backpacking trip into some steep terrain to see how your light packing paid off!
Day 1: Meet your guide in Bishop, Ca, have breakfast and head to the park for a gear sort. Have a grocery store competition and see who can pack in the most calories in the least amount of weight! Weight packs, and head into the mountains!
