The Sierra High Route is every ski mountaineers dream. Crossing the entire Sierra from East to West and then flying back over what you skied. Our eight day trip will start in the Onion Valley and head over Shepherds pass. Our relaxed timeline will leave you extra time to ski peaks and take in all the breathtaking scenery. There is almost nowhere more remote in the lower 48 than the halfway point of the Sierra High Route. You will undoubtedly fill up your cameras memory card on this classic ski tour.
Meet your guide in the town of Independence. After breakfast and a gear check you will head up Symmes Creek to start the tour. Our first day is all uphill to Anvil camp which sits below the famous Shepard's pass.
DAY 2
Get the morning coffee and head up and over Shepard's pass and enter Sequoia National Park. Descend and camp below Milestone Col.
DAY 3
Go up and over Milestone Col and head towards Triple Divide Pass.
DAY 4
Head up and over Triple Divide Pass and Head towards Horn Col
DAY 5
Head over Horn col and down toward Wolverton.
DAY 6
Head out to Wolverton

Prerequisites:
Expert downhill skiing skills
Ability to control speed and execute fall-line turns in control and comfort in difficult snow conditions (deep powder, heavy and/or moist snow, breakable crust, firm or icy, etc.)
Ability to execute hop turns on 45+ degree, firm slopes, coming to a complete and immediate stop at the finish of each turn
Ability to sideslip forward and backward, with edge control, on steep, firm slopes
