When Nina is not teaching in the classroom or coaching on the trails, she is in the mountains with friends or family. She has spent the last 12 years living in in the Alps, in France and Switzerland. She is the first American to win a World Cup gold medal at the sport of ski mountaineering in 2012. In 2013 she retired from the World Cup circuit after winning a silver at the 2013 World Championships and another gold medal in Norway. She has completed the CCC Ultra Trail du Mont Blanc two times, with an age group podium in 2012. She has guided ultra running trips around Mt Blanc, across the GR5 and into the Swiss Bernese Oberland. Her favorite running tour is the Tour du Mt Blanc passing through 3 countries and experiencing the real alpine culture.
