UIAGM/IFMGA Ski & Mountain Guide
Jed, at age thirteen, completed his first solo backpack in his home mountains of upstate New York. He hasn’t been the same since. At the University of Maine he led the school’s outdoor club, polished his skiing, and still managed to get a degree in soil science. Since then Jed has shaped his life around climbing and skiing. Since 2008, Jed has provided unwaveringly exceptional SMG experiences to our guests. He has generated a deep, much appreciated, and athletic list of regular guests who are proud to request him and call him their guide. With achievement of IFMGA credentials in 2013, Jed achieved guiding’s highest honor and rating. He is also qualified to instruct L1 and L2 AIARE Avalanche Awareness courses. On his own time, Jed has undertaken mountain expeditions to Mexico, Canada, Greenland, and Alaska. Here in the Sierra, he received some notoriety for his first winter ascent of the Complete Palisade Traverse. Jed makes a mean backcountry steak, comes equipped with an internal compass, and is a beautiful all-conditions skier. He has lived most of his adult life in the Eastern Sierra and, among other travels, tries to get to Alaska (for big mountains) and the East Coast (for family) at least once each year.
